Aspace Young Designers offers a platform for up and coming creative whizzes to showcase their talents. Chairman, Caspar Williams, had the brainwave during a student mentorship event where he met a textile designer called Chloe Flint. Chloe is the first young creative to work with Aspace on the new Young Designer’s initiative. She was awarded a Leathersellers’ Student Grant towards her MA in Textiles.
“I was simply blown away by Chloe’s work,” says Caspar. “I do a fair amount of mentorship with young people and a common theme is the need for real world experience. I realised that Aspace could provide a setting where young people are nurtured while gaining valuable work experience. In turn, we are delighted to have fresh talent like Chloe bringing new life to Aspace.”
“The Young Designers initiative is a testament to our approach to collaborative learning – one of our core company values,” says Caspar. So after a many a meeting and lots of hard work, we whittled down a number of Chloe’s unique repeat designs to our favourites (a difficult process as there were so many fab ideas to choose from). The result, which we are delighted to present you today, is our brand new collection of boys and girls duvet cover sets, and our three new cushion covers.
Chloe gets her inspiration from children’s playgrounds for colour and shape and tries to capture a childlike feeling of naivety, playfulness and spontaneity. She tends to look at artists, illustrators and designers; Matisse and Lucienne Day are a constant inspiration as well as more contemporary designers such as Atelier Bingo and Marimekko.
The brilliant duvet cover sets are now available to purchase, a real ‘pinch-me’ moment for Chloe. Containing both a single bed duvet cover and a pillowcase, the sets cost £55, exclusively from Aspace.
