The Oliver Emley Livery Giving Awards 2021-22

We are delighted to announce the final results of the Livery Personal Giving Appeal.

Together, fellow Liverymen and Freemen, along with the Leathersellers’ staff, showed remarkable generosity this year. 71 individuals supported the appeal, with each and every donation making a difference. We are most grateful for this incredible support.

The total amount raised (including gift aid and match funding) reached an amazing £85,135.

The Livery and staff voted as to how to share these donations between the four nominated groups, following our Meet the Charities webinar in May. Donations will make a real difference to their work and respective communities. Please take a moment to watch the short video below to see the charities’ reactions when we gave them the news of the generous donations.

In recent months, we were very saddened to hear of the death of Liveryman Oliver Emley, son of Pastmaster Miles Emley and Tessa, brother to Alex and Katie, and husband of Cat. The 2021-22 Livery Giving Awards are named and given in memory of Oliver.

The breakdown of the giving is as follows:

The Hardman Trust £38,635 46% of the vote
SHE UK £17,500 20% of the vote
The Feast Youth Project £16,000 19% of the vote
Connors Toy Library £13,000 15% of the vote

Earlier this month, we welcomed representatives from the four charities to Leathersellers’ Hall where they met members of Court, the Wardens and Stewards of the Company.

On behalf of each of the charities and those who benefit from their support, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the generosity shown this year. Contributions will make an extraordinary difference to these small charities and will change lives for the better.
