One of our key roles as stewards in the City of London is to care for St Helen’s Place, the home of the Leathersellers since 1543.
Our HeritageWe also provide direct grants to the following organisations, celebrating and reinforcing the cultural significance of the City of London.
Military Affiliations
Our support for the Armed Forces reflects our commitment to serving others. The Leathersellers have three key military affiliations across the Armed Forces: 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, British Army; HMS Audacious, Royal Navy; and 230 Squadron, RAF.
Each year the Company seeks to support these through the Leathersellers’ Award for Outstanding Leadership, which recognises excellent examples of young leadership. Reports are included in our annual Review.

The Leathersellers’ Foundation provides funding towards a scholarship via the Chorister Trust, which helps fund the education and musical training of St Paul’s Choristers, regardless of the financial position of their families.
Guildhall School of Music Art and Drama
The Guildhall School of Music and Drama is one of the world’s leading conservatoires and drama schools, offering musicians, actors, and theatre technicians an inspiring environment in which to develop as artists and professionals. The School is also the UK’s leading provider of specialist music training at the under-18 level. Students learn from renowned international teaching staff while collaborating in world-class music-making.
The Leathersellers’ Foundation provides five annual scholarships to exceptional students at the School, where lack of funding would impede opportunity to develop their talents.
City University
City University is the university of business, practice and the professions with a proud tradition of social mobility.
The Leathersellers’ Foundation currently provides funding towards the costs of providing emergency accommodation to students, after an initial pilot study in 2022 showed that rooms funded by the Foundation were in almost continual use by students for periods of days or weeks owing to unsafe situations such as domestic violence, unfit housing or falling victim to tenancy scams.
