Our Partnerships

We are proud to work with skilled and committed partner organisations; some long-established links were formed centuries ago, others more recent, as we collaborate to achieve shared ambitions.

The Foundation

As a grant funder the Foundation establishes partnerships with individuals and organisations across the UK. Follow the links below to learn more about the three core areas of grant funding and our associated partners.

The Company

The Company has long-established relationships that it contributes to in a number of ways – these span our grant areas of charity, education and leather, and also include the City of London.  We have governance responsibilities for the below organisations.

The Company also holds the right to appoint trustees to the City and Metropolitan Welfare Charity and Lewisham Almshouses.

City of London

Our connection to the City of London can be traced to the late 13th century when men were appointed by the Mayor and Alderman to be licensed brokers of leather merchandise imported from abroad. Today, our role in the City of London – including our military affiliations – is charitable, civic, and cultural.

Barnet

The Leathersellers’ Company first constructed almshouses in Barnet during the Victorian period. They were rebuilt in 1964-66 and renamed Leathersellers’ Close. There are now twenty-one flats for the benefit of people over sixty years of age in housing need. Tenancy is managed by Harrison Housing with the Company maintaining close links to support the community of residents.
